26th June 25
We marked the end of the academic year with a vibrant week of celebrations, culminating in the highly anticipated DLD Awards Ceremony. The event recognised the hard work, progress and contributions of students across the college, shining a spotlight on both academic and extracurricular success. Well done to all of those students who were awarded prizes!
A highlight of the ceremony was the announcement of this year’s House Cup winners—District House, who claimed the coveted title for the very first time. The win was met with huge cheers, celebrating a year of teamwork, participation and House spirit across a wide range of competitions and activities.
Adding a special musical touch to the event was Seteyesh in Year 12, who gave a stunning piano performance of Skyfall by Adele, showcasing the wealth of talent within the DLD community.
The awards formed part of a joyful week of activities organised to mark the end of term. Students enjoyed a Student Council-led BBQ in the college’s outdoor space, trips to the Museum of London Docklands, an engaging University Day with guest speakers and admissions advice, and a lively scavenger hunt across the Southbank—encouraging teamwork, creativity and a chance to explore the local area in a fun and memorable way.
Principal James Kidd praised the energy and engagement of students throughout the week, saying: “These celebrations are a wonderful way to round off another successful year at DLD. We’re incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved, and it’s been fantastic to see the whole community come together in such high spirits.”
With memories made, achievements honoured, and friendships strengthened, the week served as a fitting conclusion to a dynamic and fulfilling academic year at DLD.
