SASHA – RUSSIA

Sasha came to DLD College September 2017 from St Edward’s School in Oxford. From the outset, Sasha demonstrated her passion for science and social science in the broadest sense, and it became clear that she was determined to apply to study Natural Sciences at university, combining her tireless enthusiasm for Physics, Biology, and the fascinating synthesis of these disciplines. Sasha competed in many Olympiads, including the Gold and Silver in Biology, Silver in Physics, and Gold three times in Mathematics. A meticulous and independent scientist, Sasha has demonstrated a tenacity and determination that are impressive. In addition to this, Sasha was keen to go beyond the scope of the academic disciplines: her independent project discussed the cognitive and spiritual distinction between humans and animals. She had the opportunity to undertake a month of work practice at the Moscow State University archives, and she was inspired by being able to learn from the discipline, dedication and work ethic of professional scientists.

Sasha also took advantage of extra-curricular activities on offer at DLD and completed the Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards, demonstrating the breadth of her commitment and passion to be active and engaged physically as well as intellectually. We look forward to seeing her develop her skills and insights further as a talented Natural Scientist.
