DLD College London is a thriving, successful independent school located in the heart of London, right by Waterloo and overlooking the River Thames and Houses of Parliament. With students aged 13–19 years old from London and the surrounding areas plus from many countries around the world, we are a truly global college.
High-quality teaching is delivered within exceptional modern facilities and in small, supportive classroom environments. We offer a place for students to grow and develop, to gain independence and become more autonomous, where they can become independent thinkers and better prepared for university study.
To be eligible to apply for an A Level at DLD College London students must have 5 GCSEs at Level 4 (grade C) or above including Maths and English. Specific GCSEs may be necessary depending on your course choice.
BTEC allows students to express their knowledge and understanding through practical assignments. Rather than studying a three or four different A Level subjects, BTEC students focus on only one subject. At DLD College London we currently offer Business and Creative Digital Media Production. Whilst they do have some examination components, BTEC courses are assessed through practical assignments where students apply their learning in a real-world context, often engaging with industry professionals.
If you are student of a two year BTEC then you will not be able to study A Levels alongside this as you will not have the time.
Yes, there are a wealth of University options for you.
We can offer various options for retaking A Levels which are discussed in detail at interview to ensure you get the most appropriate fit for your studies and future plans and these will be by timetabling you in to appropriate lessons across Year 12 and 13. We do not run intensive retake courses.
We offer an option to study a core set of GCSE subjects to give students a solid foundation for progressing to A Level and BTEC study. This course suits domestic students who wish to consolidate their learning and focus on achieving good grades in a core group of subjects, as well as international students who wish to prepare for their higher level studies. Find out more here.
For our two year GCSE course starting in Year 10, you will take a maximum of 10 GCSEs or their BTEC Award equivalent, plus supplementary learning and activities including Careers & Professional Development, Study Skills, Sport and Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE) Education.
For a one year intensive GCSE programme (starting in Year 11) you can take up to 7 GCSEs.
BTEC Awards are equivalent to a full GCSE and give students an exciting alternative to traditional GCSEs by offering study on more industry related subjects such as the Esports BTEC or Sport BTEC on offer at DLD – find out more here.
DLD is opening a new Year 9 in September 2013 for students age 13. This unique curriculum is designed to spark a love of learning for the younger years, preparing students for the careers of tomorrow whilst at the same time providing a solid bedrock of knowledge and skills. The programme will be thematic based and offer a hybrid of the traditional with the unconventional, thereby introducing students to the rigours of grammar and algebra while also learning about topics such as NFTs and cryptocurrency.
Our Year 9 provision will form the first stage of a DLD student’s journey, as they progress through to our Year 10 & 11 Key Stage 4 programmes and then onto Sixth Form, university and beyond. At DLD, students are empowered at every step to tailor their learning and to develop skills and experience to pursue their passions.
