Just before the end of the autumn term more than 30 of our Year 13 Art, Graphics, Photography and Year 14 BTEC Art Students spent the day learning from the professional, internationally recognised artists:
Author, campaigner and mental and emotional wellbeing advocate Natasha Devon MBE recently opened DLD College London’s new Wellbeing Centre, joining staff and students as they cut the celebratory ribbon and formally declared the centre open, as part of the launch event.
A variety of students from DLD College London volunteered in a litter picking event in Lower Marsh and Waterloo Millennium Park, the largest event of it’s kind in the UK.
The DLD College London Christmas Concert was one of the best I can remember, every one of the acts was polished and the standard across the board was very good. Well done to all those students who took part!
Everyone is trying to predict the future. From predicting the score of the DLD College London Staff vs Student Charity football match in aid of Movember, to the number of mince pies that may be eaten at the Winter Concert.
On 16 October DLD college London A level Year 1 Art students explored The National Gallery collection of the Sainsbury Wing, learned about the use of art materials in Gothic art and how paintings were created at this time.
Milestones – there have been plenty this month, from, the 100 years since the end of WW1 to the final Brexit negotiations in Brussels. More importantly, it has been Milestone Tests for our students this week which will give them an indication of how they have progressed since joining DLD College London.
This year Surfers Against Sewages has organized its biggest Autumn Beach and River Clean with 15,000 volunteers cleaning more than 400 beaches and 60 rivers across the UK. As part of this campaign, last Saturday DLD College hosted a litter picking event in Lower Mash and Waterloo Millenium Park.
This week we had our first Open Evening of the year for prospective students and parents with a record attendance. It was also a time to remember and commemorate those former DLD students, who gave their lives during the various conflicts. The College’s Armistice Day Remembrance service on Monday remembered them
On Tuesday, 13th of November, the Spanish Department took a trip to the V&A Museum to visit the exhibition on the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
