Head of Boarding (Residential)

DLD College is recruiting a full time Head of Boarding from August 2017 onwards. (An earlier commencement date would be considered). Salary is in the range of £36,000 to £38,000 per annum.  DLD is an independent co-educational College with around 520 students from 46 different countries and includes over 230 boarders. It is situated in a state-of-the-art building in the heart of London, overlooking Westminster and the river Thames. With an expansion of the boarding numbers in the coming years, there is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to make an impression on a unique boarding environment.

Classes are small, enabling students and teachers to focus upon the most effective ways of learning. The College offers exceptional teaching, accommodation and resources.

Your full duties and responsibilities are outlined in the job description. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you will lead a team consisting of Houseparents, an Accommodation officer and Boarding Assistants during an ambitious phase of development in the college’s history. You will maintain a safe and caring boarding environment, in co-operation with the Deputy Principal (Welfare & Boarding) that adds value to the boarders and prepares them to live independently, with an enhanced sense of wellbeing and responsibility to themselves and the community. The role is residential, with a modern well equipped apartment ideally suited for applicants who are single or part of a couple.

DLD College London is an independent sixth form college situated in the heart of London overlooking Westminster and the river Thames. There are over 500 students, who are preparing for A-Level, BTEC (Level 3 & 4) and GCSE, with over 200 boarding students.

We have an excellent track record of supporting students to achieve the A-Level, BTEC (Level 3 & 4) and GCSE results they need, enabling them to move onto university courses of their choice, mostly to Russell Group universities.
 
Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
 
DLD College London is looking to expand our pastoral team with a group of Boarding Assistants helping to support the teaching and boarding staff in caring for our younger students. Boarding Assistants will be required to work within a rota taking day, evening, and weekend shifts. Duties include supervising the students during study time and meal times, assisting boarding staff with curfew checks, and travelling with students on sightseeing tours and activities.
 
Applicants must have a friendly and enthusiastic manner, be comfortable working independently, and be willing to travel and learn. Experience of working with young people, ideally in an education setting, is essential. Applicants with a second language are strongly encouraged to apply.
