College Counsellor

An experienced and well-qualified Counsellor is required to counsel students and staff at DLD College London. DLD College is an independent boarding college situated in the heart of London overlooking Westminster and the river Thames. There are around 500 students from 40 different countries.

Purpose of the post

To provide confidential (guidelines set out by BACP) one to one and group counselling for students and staff members at DLD College. The College Counsellor will aim to improve wellbeing and resilience for all through providing an effective counselling service whilst raising awareness of mental health issues and reducing the stigma around mental health.

Personal Specification & Skills

Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Diploma or Masters level in Counselling or Psychotherapy.

Experience

  • Minimum of one years’ experience of working with children and adolescents.
  • An awareness of the range of needs or people from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Significant and proven experience in providing personal therapy /counselling to those with complex needs.
  • Member of a professional body, (BACP, UKCP or BPC) and adhere to their guidance, policy and practice, supervision.
  • Previous experience in an independent educational setting (Desirable).

Skills and Attributes

  • Exceptional listening skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: oral and written.
  • Accurate record keeping (including review and assessment).
  • A warm, empathetic, approachable personality with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the school community and outside agencies.
  • Emotionally robust, commit to a minimum period of one year.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and work as part of a team.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of childhood development, attachment, common Mental Health disorders and traumas.
  • Understanding of the needs of children and young people, particularly those with complex emotional, social or medical needs and behavioural difficulties.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with local mental health and CAMHS services.
  • An understanding of and commitment to working in an equal opportunities environment.

Finance Manager

DLD College London is looking to recruit a career minded and enthusiastic Finance Manager. To be considered for the role you must have previous accounting experience with good systems skills and be able to work in a busy environment with adults and young people alike.

DLD College is an independent sixth form college situated in the heart of London overlooking Westminster and the river Thames. There are over 500 students, who are preparing for A-Level, BTEC (Level 3 & 4) and GCSE, with over 200 boarding students.

DLD College was founded in 1931 and is part of the Alpha Plus Group of schools and colleges. It aims to maintain a ‘gold standard’ of educational quality. The salary for this position will be between £35,000 and £40,000 depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate shall be entitled to 25 days annual leave per year plus all Public Holidays.

  3. A minimum of two years’ teaching experience for those without a teaching qualification. We accept applications from NQTs and provide a programme to support their Statutory Induction year at the college.
  4. Personal effectiveness; good time management, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; good communication, presentation and planning skills.
  5. Commitment to on-going professional development and training to develop outstanding classroom practice

The Head of eLearning is responsible for supporting learning and teaching through effective use of technology. The post holder will be proactive in addressing the development needs of academic teachers and also lead/coordinate faculty eLearning initiatives.

Qualifications

A good degree (in a relevant subject or related discipline), A PGCE would be an advantage, although this is not essential. Teaching experience or ICT/e learning role in a school context is also desirable.

Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
 
DLD College London is looking to expand our pastoral team with a group of Boarding Assistants helping to support the teaching and boarding staff in caring for our younger students. Boarding Assistants will be required to work within a rota taking day, evening, and weekend shifts. Duties include supervising the students during study time and meal times, assisting boarding staff with curfew checks, and travelling with students on sightseeing tours and activities.
 
Applicants must have a friendly and enthusiastic manner, be comfortable working independently, and be willing to travel and learn. Experience of working with young people, ideally in an education setting, is essential. Applicants with a second language are strongly encouraged to apply.
