Summary
DLD has many strengths and no major weaknesses. The college has good standards of governance and management. It achieves good standards of attainment and progress and in students’ levels of personal development.
Resourcing and accommodation are very good. The pastoral care of students is of a high order, and prepares them well for the next stage of their education.

The report’s summary is as follows:
The inspectors reported on a very high level of provision in all of the areas assessed. Teaching was considered to be generally very good or excellent, with students receiving thorough preparation for their targeted examinations, and there was excellent support for students applying for higher education. The level of pastoral support received by students from their personal tutors was exceptionally high. The management was effective in maintaining an overall strategy for continuous improvement while staying in touch with the needs of individual students. The inspectors considered that the College was successfully moving to the provision of the full range of academic and extra-curricular activities associated with a sixth-form college and upper-level GCSE studies.
The College relocated to premises in Marylebone in early 2004, and a Supplementary Visit was made on behalf of BAC. The premises, which had been totally refurbished, were considered to be of an outstanding standard, offering a well-planned and attractive academic environment which included excellent facilities for science and the creative and performing arts, well-equipped classrooms and very good provision for independent study.
The college was re-visited in May 2005. The conclusion of its interim report was as follows:
The College continues to offer a very high standard of service to its students. The response to the recommendations of the previous Inspection Report is exemplary. (14th July 2005)
